BUILDING PROCESS  


Building a home can be intimidating at first, but at Hawkins Custom Homes we work hard so that you can enjoy the process. We look forward to walking alongside you each step of the way. 

 

STEP 1:  PRE-QUALIFICATION 

Take the time to find the right lender to fit your needs. If you don't already have someone in mind we are more than happy to offer suggestions. Once you’ve established your lender, they will work with you to determine what cost range is best for your budget.  

STEP 2: AQUIRE LAND

The home’s location heavily influences overall construction. If you have land, we will work with you and the property, managing the process of preparing the land to support your new home.  We can also put you in touch with proven, successful, real estate agents to help discover your land options. 

STEP 3: DESIGN YOUR HOME

Designing your home may just be the most fun of all. We encourage you to consider your needs, goals, lifestyle, and expectations throughout this process. We will review your floor plans, explore custom options, and discuss your priorities before settling in on the final set.

STEP 4: enter into the construction loan

Once the design, land, and costs have all been reviewed and agreed upon, it's time for you to turn everything over to your lender for review. The lender will go through their own process, which can take up to 4 weeks or more. Once everything is processed, and approved, the bank will issue an appraisal and set a closing date, allowing us to get started. 

STEP 5:  make your selections 

Although this phase requires a lot of decision making on your part, we attempt to make this step as easy and enjoyable as possible. Working our way from the inside-out, we will help you choose the best materials and design for your budget. We also partner with a local interior designer for those interested. Our vendors are a huge help in understanding your options and making beneficial suggestions. 

STEP 6:  CONSTRUCTION begins

It's really happening! As soon as we receive the building permits, we can begin construction. This is where everything comes together. During this time we commit to keeping you informed through; meeting times, on-site walk-throughs, pictures, and scheduled budget reports. 

STEP 7: MOVE IN

Hire the movers! Prior to moving day, we will complete a comprehensive walk-through to ensure final punch list items are checked off. We use this time to explain any special features and warranties. Once the closing date is set and all documentation has been handled, we hand over the keys.

The house is now your HOME!
